Policy Project Officer

Advocacy Strategy Implementation

  • Support the compliance of all public advocacy and media products according to the SCI sign-off procedures,
    working on proactive, reactive engagement and preparedness with the regional office to ensure the
    needed support and oversight mechanisms are functioning.
  • the process of review and implementation of Save the Children’s oPt Advocacy Strategy, offering
    substantive contributions and coordination support to planned advocacy, campaigns, communications and media products.
  • Support internal coordination and functioning of the ACCM team, both administrative and technical as
    needed.
  • , where required, the engagement with key UN agencies and other interlocutors based in oPt to ensure
    Save the Children International (SCI) has up to date information on the humanitarian situation and response, with a focus on child protection, adherence to International Humanitarian Law (IHL), attacks on
    education, health and other issues impacting children and other civilians.
  • Support policy development in priority areas identified by the oPt CO, aligned the 2022-2024 Country
    Strategic Plan (CSP).
  • the implementation/translation of policy products to enhance and complement programmatic and/or
    advocacy priorities.
  • Support the development of key advocacy and policy products from the CO, ensuring SCI’s global
    humanitarian policy on these issues is reflected wherever possible in joint HCT advocacy and media
    products through proactive and targeted lobbying of key contacts.
  • the research and project management of advocacy and policy messages and products for use at national,
    regional and international levels.
  • Supporting the information gathering for country office cross functional initiatives in relation to
    humanitarian policy development, including monitoring the impacts of shrinking space, access constraints, counter-terror legislation, the nexus, peace-building and other important themes.

Risk Management & Humanitarian Advocacy MEAL

  • Cond
    uct thorough risk assessment of planned advocacy, media and communications work, in collaboration with colleagues from Operations, Safeguarding, and Legal teams.
  • Carry out regular monitoring and analysis of media and social media platforms for issues affecting
  • Palestinian children and Save the Children’s thematic and operational policy work.
  • Support the integration of the oPt COs advocacy specific MEAL reporting system and impact studies into
    the broader regional and global systems to continuously highlight and improve the way we work for children on humanitarian advocacy in oPt and the region.
  • Support the country office in setting MEAL frameworks with the children we engage with in our advocacy
    and campaigns from the outset and ensuring they have an opportunity to provide feedback after events,
    projects, campaigns or other engagement.

Humanitarian Situation Analysis and Information Management

  • Conduct regular sectoral and contextual research and, when requested, written analysis of how children
    have been affected in specific contexts in oPt, and specifically their access to humanitarian assistance.
    Proactively support identifying and linking the CO priorities to the broader regional and global priorities
    including of key humanitarian advocacy moments.
  • Gather and process information related to the oPt prioritized response (and related political processes) in
    the country and produce high quality briefings and context updates as and when needed.

Additional job responsibilities

  • The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to
    carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience. In the event of a
    major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile
    and be able to vary working hours accordingly
